Captain Rodney's
Family-owned and operated since 1995, we have a simple philosophy, to make the very best all-natural products possible. To do this we use only the finest ingredients cooked slowly in small batches using time-honored methods. We have always said that the finished product is only as good as the ingredients you put in. With this in mind, we have made a pledge to use only the very best; pure cane sugar instead of high-fructose corn syrup, whole fruits and berries instead of fruit syrup mixes and locally grown fresh produce rather than frozen. We know that lots of other companies can make more products than we do, but no one can make products better than we do.
Raw Honey
Honey D'ewe Farms is a local farm in Hopkinsville, KY. Using local raw honey has a list of health benefits over using store-bought honey. Local, raw honey has unique flavors that are lost when it is industrialized. This honey is also full of all kinds of healthy ingredients. Industrial methods dilute the good stuff. To help with allergies, you need to have local, raw honey. This will insure that the honey has the allergens native to the area you live in. Buying local is better, and not just because it reduces pollution and saves resources. Bees shipped from elsewhere pollinate one crop, which is how commercial honey is made. This is completely unnatural and hard on the bees. Let’s keep the bees home and pollinating as nature intended.
Kentucky Hot Mix
Looking for something filled with spice and an irresistible crunch? Kentucky Hot Mix is a sure win! Kentucky Hot Mix began as a Christmas gift tradition. Every December things got spicy in the Blythe household as Mr. Blythe prepared countless of batches of his locally famous hot mix to share with his family and friends. He accepted no payment for this treat. His only requirement: return the tin the mix was shared in to get another batch the following Christmas. There was just something about that spice that kept folks coming back year after year for more mix. Eventually, Mr. Blythe gifted his secret recipe to his daughter-in-law, Lacey, who then began gifting the mix to clients and friends. It was such a hit that Lacey began exploring ways to bring the product to more households.
Kentucky Hot Mix is still made locally in Kentucky even after all these years.
